Gentlemen:
We at Amnesty International received a number of letters from
Mtro. Franco Zevada in 2009 outlining the steps taken by your
government to attend to the situation we reference hereinabove.
I write today to express again my thanks for the letters and your
efforts, and to let you know of our continuing concern for the
safety and the civil rights of Bárbara Italia Méndez and other
women detained during the incidents of May 3 and 4 2006 in San
Salvador Atenco. However, we have received no information
concerning the progress of these investigations.
Again, I exhort you to ensure a rapid, complete and impartial
investigation into the actions of all government officials
associated with this case and, in the case of misconduct, that
these officials be prosecuted and, if convicted, punished.
I thank you for your attention to this matter, and request that
you keep us informed of the progress of the investigations and
prosecutions.

Señora Fiscal Especial:
En Amnesty International recibimos varias cartas del Mtro. Franco
Zevada fechadas el 28 de octubre del 2009 expresando los pasos
tomados por varios organismos de su gobierno para afrontar la
situación a la que nos referimos.
La escribo hoy para expresar de nuevo mi agradecimiento por las
cartas recibidas y por las gestiones de dichos organismos, y
hacerle llegar mi contínua preocupación por los derechos
civiles y la seguridad de Bárbara Italia Méndez y otras
mujeres, quienes fueron detenidas el 3 y 4 de mayo de 2006 en San
Salvador Atenco. Sin embargo, no hemos tenido más noticias del
desarrollo de dichas diligencias.
Le pido que se investigue con rapidez la actuación de los
funcionarios federales, estatales y municipales implicados en
este caso de manera imparcial y exhaustiva, y que se castigue en
su caso a los que hubieran abusado de su poder de acuerdo con la
ley.
Sin otro particular, le agradezco su atención a este asunto, y
le pido que nos ponga al día del desarrollo del caso.
