Call Congress to Close Guantanamo Bay Prison!
Please call Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Hoyer;
As the House Rules Committee considers the NDAA for the floor of the House in the
coming days, we urge you to call House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office (202-225-4965)
and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s office (202-225-4131) and ask them to oppose
introducing all amendments on the floor of the House that would place restrictions on
transfers from Guantanamo.

Here’s a sample script you can use:

"Hello, I’m _______ from ___________. I’m calling to leave a message about the prison
at Guantanamo Bay. I urge Speaker Pelosi/Majority Leader Hoyer to support President Biden’s plan to close the prison at Guantanamo and to oppose any amendments to the
National Defense Authorization Act that would impose restrictions on transferring detainees out of Guantanamo."

Take action now against Human Trafficking  and Modern Slavery!
Please act swiftly and call your representative/senators (1-202-224-3121) and
urge them
to reauthorize the below vital anti-trafficking programs and urge
both the House and Senate to schedule votes on these bills as soon as possible;
 International Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act
of 2022 (S. 4171)
The bill reauthorizes essential U.S. anti-trafficking programs and policy, which
lapsed in September 2021.
 Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection
Reauthorization Act (H.R. 6552),
which was introduced on Feb. 1, 2022,

by Reps. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Karen Bass (D-CA).
In their current forms, S. 4171 and H.R. 6552 both include provisions to:
Reauthorize the Program to End Modern Slavery (PEMS). Increase authorized funding for the U.S. State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP Office). Make technical amendments to the TIP Report tier rankings. Expand anti-trafficking programming at the U.S. Agency for International Development.
The Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000 is the landmark federal law that governs U.S. policy to address trafficking in persons in the United States and around the globe. The TVPA has been reauthorized through the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) five times, most recently in early 2019.

Here is a script (please edit into your own words, but be polite);

"Access to abortion is a human right.  Forcing someone to carry a pregnancy
against their will is a violation of those rights. Abortion must be legal, safe and
accessible for all.   There will always be those who feel forced, through crisis,
emergency, or desperate situation to fine one by any means, even if it
jeopardizes their own life.  No one should face that horrific choice.
Please protect the health and wellbeing of women and girls by defending our
freedom to decide for ourselves what happens to our lives and bodies."

Call Sen. Cornyn: It's time for action on gun violence!
It's been more than a week since the massacre in Uvalde, Texas, and the Senate has still not acted on gun violence.
Several Republicans—including your senator, John Cornyn—claim they are ready to work with Democrats on bipartisan solutions. Now we need to hold their feet to the fire and make sure they don't just stall and obstruct meaningful gun laws. Can you call Sen. Cornyn now and tell him it's time to act on gun violence?  Here's where to call: Sen. Cornyn - (202) 224-2934
You can identify yourself as a constituent and share why this matters so much to you. Here are some points you could include: This isn't business as usual. You expect the Senate to act immediately.
Background checks, assault weapon bans, and regulating high-capacity clips are all necessary steps. An overwhelming majority of Americans—including your fellow voters of both major parties—want real reforms now, and it's Sen. Cornyn's job to stand up to the NRA and support our communities, not guns. Speak from the heart, and make sure they know you're watching this closely.
Every day that goes by makes it less likely the Senate—which is mired in Republican obstruction—will act. The NRA, the gun lobby, and right-wing Republicans know this, which is why they are happy to delay. The sad truth is that gun violence is so prevalent in our society that unless the Senate acts quickly, the national conversation will move on, and we will stay in the deadly status quo.

So, if Republicans like Sen. Cornyn say they are willing to work on gun reform, the time is now for legislation. It already has public support and momentum—we just need Republicans serious about confronting the NRA and the gun lobby and making this happen.
